Science

The students are making useful simple machines that help make human work easier.  Some students have already brought in their materials for this but if all students could have their materials brought into class as soon as possible so they can start building.

Health

The students read the story Owen & Mzee today and discussed what it means to be a good friend.

Don't forget to get all your fundraising done for Jump Rope for Heart.  The envelopes are due Friday!

On Friday we are also having a pink and red day where the students wear these colours to send an anti-bullying message.

Math

The students are finishing up a project where they are analyzing graphs and tables and making a presentation about what it is like to live in different cities in Canada.

This is the rubric they are following to ensure an excellent presentation:


Science

The students continue to learn about simple machines.  This week they explored wheels and levels.  They looked at how a small movement can make a big movement and if the placement of the axel in the wheel matters.

This week:


Hope you had a nice family day!  Last week the students received a Jump Rope for Heart fundraising envelope to raise money for the Heart and Stroke foundation.  The students can work towards earning prizes and the school has set a goal to raise 10 000 dollars.  The students have until Feb 27 2015 to fundraise!

Today the students received free library cards from the Calgary Public Library.  Please look over the pamphlet with your child as there are great resources the students can benefit from at the library and online as well.

Please return the French Intensive program sheet by Friday February 20th.

What we have been up to!

The students had a great day skiing on Monday!  Thank you to all the volunteers and all the parents for having the forms in on time:)

Even though it is a short week the students have been working on a project on book creator studying graphs.  They will make a brief presentation on what they have learned.

Tomorrow we will have library.  Please make sure to remember to bring in your books from 3 weeks ago.

There is no school Thursday or Friday for Teacher's convention and Monday is a holiday for family day.

Upcoming events


The students are going to COP for skiing/snowboarding on Monday.  Please make sure they are on time for school, dressed in layers for the weather and have a packed lunch and water bottle.

They can bring their own equipment if they would like, however rentals are included.

Math: Graphs

The grade four students are beginning a new unit on creating and interpreting graphs.  They will begin this unit tomorrow with this online program.
