Alberta's Natural Regions
The grade 4 students have been learning about Alberta and the natural regions of our province. To begin the project the students researched each region, discovering unique features of the land.
Then together we created a rubric for what an excellent final project would look like.
Next the students created a plan of how they would like their 3-D salt dough models to look like.
Finally, the students made salt dough and created them into models of the natural regions of Alberta.
For the last step, the students painted their models and did a self-evaluation on the rubric of where they felt they landed.

Building Landfills
The students built landfills in a workshop with Green Calgary. Their task was to build a landfill that would not leak into the ground water and keep the seagulls out. They used materials that landfill engineers would use in real life and discussed potential problems and ways to make landfills more efficient.
Here are some photos from the afternoon!
