Health

Health forms are coming home today! Please read, sign and return the sheets with your child. The letter is below and please contact us if you need any further information.

During the months of February and March, Grade 4 will take part in a one/two week Human Sexuality module. Students in Grades Four will be examining how individuals’ interests, abilities, emotions, and bodies change during the pre-adolescent and adolescent years. These students will look specifically at the physical, emotional and social changes that occur during puberty.

The following are the learning outcomes of the Human Sexuality component of the Alberta Health and Life Skills curriculum:
Grade 4
W-4.3 Describe physical, emotional and social changes that occur during puberty: e.g., menstruation, secondary sexual characteristics, changing identity and moods.

For more information, please follow the link to the Alberta Education Curriculum Guide.

Please also go to Teaching Sexual Health to view the lessons that your child will be learning:

Miss Haines and Miss Bly will be available to answer your questions, or for you to view the teaching materials from 3:30 to 5:00pm on Thursday, January 19th in Room 10 or feel free to contact them by email if you have any questions.

Parents may ask that their child not participate in the Human Sexuality component of the Health and Life Skills program. Any children not participating in these lessons will work on alternate health-related activities out of the classroom.
